For my project for perspective, I wanted to write a song that can be taken in different perspectives with strong meanings that could resonate to different groups of people. I wrote the lyrics to fit into the idea that the year of 2020 is apologizing profusely to a black woman they have hurt. I gave 2020 this personification because I thought that it allowed to song to be more poetic and serenading, instead of leaving it to be explicit and a tell-tale of all of the tragedies that happened in 2020. The other perspective I tried to capture, was the perspective of a man apologizing profusely to their ex-spouse and acknowledging the hurt they have caused that person.
When writing my lyrics, I annotated them on the sidelines to show the reference to 2020 events, and the switch of perspective.

For my art portion, I learned how to write music by using my ukulele, and actually created the song I wrote for my english portion. I sang intentionally in a very apologetic and shaky tone, to almost portray a heartbroken sound, that is raspy and not bold in any way. I spent a lot of time perfecting my chord progression, and the unique format to the song. It was very hard to step out of my original singing style for this project, but was so fun nonetheless.
